On Tuesday, November 24th, 2015 NYFACS was honored by a visit from two Representatives of the Lycée Français de New York (LFNY), namely Mr Sean Lynch, the principal, and his director of Admissions, Mme Martine Lala.

The visit started at 8:30am in the school’s multipurpose room with welcoming remarks and messages from several of NYFACS talented students: a welcome message by Kenneth Sogbossi and Francoise Simmons, followed by a poem created and recited by Lia Lavielle and Sydney Phanord, and concluded by the song “La vie en rose” interpreted a capela by Davida Dayle. A 4th grade student, Akpe Boglo, spontaneously asked to use the microphone to thank Mr Lynch and Mme Lala for their generosity toward NYFACS, in particular for providing the school with 14 smartboards and 60 laptops.

While students were getting back in their respective classrooms, Mr Maurice, the administrative staff, the teacher coaches, the PTO President Tom Bretz and a few other parents went into the new “computer lab” (in the 2nd floor library) to introduce Mr Lynch and Mme Lala to the educational programs installed on the LFNY-donated laptops. Coach Jamie McNamara presented the IXL internet program used by our school students to practice for the Common Core State Tests.

The visit continued by a tour of the rooftop and the NYFACS garden, followed by an introduction of the 5th graders getting extra French Afterschool support to prepare for the LFNY Middle School Entrance Exam. The Lycée Français de New York has generously offered 6 Middle School Scholarships for qualifying NYFACS students.

The visit was then concluded by a short tour of the Kindergarten classrooms, and a song on “L’amitié” (Friendship) interpreted by Mme Boundy’s class students.

NYFACS is very thankful for such an inspiring partnership with the Lycée Français de New York and is looking forward to a fruitful collaboration in the months to come.
