Dual language immersion programs are indisputably beneficial. Learning multiple languages increases student intelligence, cultural awareness and compassion, and global perspectives.
Our NYFACS students are exposed to diverse cultures; including those of their classmates, teachers, and all the Franco countries of the world. To truly learn the language of a French-speaking culture is to have a lifelong connection to that country, culture and its dynamic people.
When dual languages and cultures are taught concurrently, our NYFACS students are able to become global citizens starting as young as Pre-Kindergarten. Our public charter school students view their education from a cultural, global, multilingual lens throughout their time with us — whether they join in Pre-K or in middle school.
Learning in a second language dual immersion environment allows our young NYFACS PK-8 public charter school students to be more aware. They have an elevated awareness of cultural differences; they’re better attuned to the wide variety of humans. Embedded in our educational approach at NYFACS is our bilingual and biliterate approach — our students are both curious and tolerant. We teach why and how global camaraderie exists; as well as the need for understanding on a human scale.
Social Justice Lens
Our public PK-8 dual immersion programs create global citizens that communicate in multiple languages, understand others, recognize multiple perspectives and embrace the world at a global level. From a social justice standpoint, dual immersion and cross-cultural awareness directly enable a closer lens for identifying and addressing environmental crises, racial inequality, poverty, and injustice — worldwide.
Since 2010 we have educated hundreds of dual language PK-8 students in our tuition-free French immersion school. We absorb and support all levels of French & English language learners in our highly sought after bilingual and immersion school environment. We unlock a lifelong appreciation for our multicultural world as we teach in French and English. Find out more and help your child feel the world!
